Just how consistent do you think you are?
When I used to hear the word consistency, I used to feel guilty, as consistent, I wasn’t, or was I?
In this article, I will look at just what consistency means to me, in my life and also in content creation.
If you are creating content, or are thinking about it, then I hope you might find this informative, I have also added links to other articles on consistency.
So What is it?
According to Google: con·sist·en·cy [k uhn- sis-t uhn-see]
NOUN [PLURAL CON·SIST·EN·CIES.]
1.a degree of density, firmness, viscosity, etc.: The liquid has the consistency of cream.
2.steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc.: There is consistency in his pattern of behavior.
3.agreement, harmony, or compatibility, especially correspondence or uniformity among the parts of a complex thing: consistency of colors throughout the house.
4.the condition of cohering or holding together and retaining form; solidity or firmness.
What do you need to do to be consistent?
My niece & nephew are both exceptional sportspeople, he is a competitive swimmer and has competed in Commonwealth & Olympic Games and numerous World Championships, and she is the Ladies World Polo Crosse Champion.
Massive feats of achievement for both of them and I am a very proud uncle. This is made even more amazing, especially from the stock they came from. No offense sisters Lol.
My sisters and I all just got by in our younger years and never excelled in anything as spectacular as the next generation (Kids). I just hope my own kids can emulate their success.
The thing is, they didn’t just wake up one day and start their respective sports and excel right away. Both my niece and nephew have been involved since they were not much more than toddlers.
What they didn’t do was give up, when most other kids go through phases and change their minds, sports, hobbies, they persevered and remained consistent in their chosen sport.
Credit to their parents, for believing in them and supporting them all the way.
So to be consistent, you need to have a never give up attitude and support from others. Those two ingredients will go a long way if you want to be successful in whatever you do in life.
Whereas my niece has reached the pinnacle of her respective sport, World Champion, my nephew is now 22 and in swimming terms, he will not hit his peak until his mid 20’s. He has been training full time now since he was 16 and swimming competitively since he was 6.
He still has a few good years to go yet, he will keep it going…..
Consistency takes: Passion, blood sweat and tears
Our heroes are just that and we can look at them with admiration, and even envy, but remember many of them are classic rags to riches people.
Look at Oprah & Tony Robbins. They weren’t just lucky or in the right place at the right time, they put in, as Tony Robbin’s says, “Massive Action”, as they came from a tough background, which motivated them to change for the better.
It is easy to associate overachievers with consistency, as like my niece & nephew, they have a never give up mentality or attitude and they keep going, never mind what is going on.
So to maintain consistency you need to be desperate, goal oriented, focused, committed, driven, ambitious, steely orientation, ruthless…… to be highly successful.
Or do you?
Now before you start to say to yourself, I could never ever be like them, look at just what it entails to be “consistent” and the different degrees of consistency, then we all are consistent, even if we don’t think so…
Do you have any “Bad Habits”?
If you’ve been following my blogs, you know by now I am an alcoholic in recovery & am also an ex-smoker, probably the worst habits out there, but ironically, that was consistent.
My habit was consistent as I did it on a daily basis and it was very repetitive, so in retrospect, I was extremely consistent, just in the wrong direction.
The behavior in addiction is defined as insane and the definition of insanity is “Doing the same thing over & over again, expecting a different outcome”
So if you feel that consistency only belongs to the super hero’s, think again.
Everyone is consistent in many behaviors, attitudes, feelings, and thoughts. If you can channel it proactively into something positive that you are passionate about and are motivated, then you will see that your consistency will soon turn into a routine, habit and a passion along the way.
I’ve done a ton of diets and different exercise regimes, lasted a month or two and given up. I always had an excuse for myself, but that is exactly just what they were, excuses reinforcing that: “IM NOT GOOD ENOUGH”.
I am an “apprentice” blogger and affiliate marketer now, but guess what, I am enjoying it as it is a challenge and is something new and different. I might not be good at it but I’ve decided that I‘m not going to give up, as giving up at the first hurdle was the old me.
I can succeed at this and stay consistent, and I can with anything else.
To Sum Up
Content Marketing is a prime example of how to practice consistency, patience, learn tolerance, be consistent and persistent. It is a great self-learning.
I do try to learn from my mistakes, and that is why they are little miracles in themselves that happen for a reason.
I am a growth-seeking being I will continue to seek change in myself. What motivates me is the Pain – Pleasure, which moves me away from my pain points (a lack of finances, time & peace of mind) to my pleasure points (freedom of finances, time & peace of mind).
The way I have found to achieve this freedom and to move away from the “Groundhog Day” of life is through online marketing.
I have taken this step into the abyss, I’m not tech savvy at all, and with the support of Six Figure Mentors-SFM, I am working my way through it.
The internet is here to stay and is the future for all of us, so don’t get left behind because it is gaining momentum.
Now Affiliate Marketing might not be for everyone, but my suggestion to you is to just watch the 7-day video series by the co-founders, Stuart & Jay, and decide from there.
The video series is free, very interesting and will show you, at least, just what opportunities are available online. I’ll leave you to decide.
